Who We Are

Education should be inclusive, supportive and built around the learner

Thrive exists to close gaps, build confidence, and help children unlock their full potential — regardless of their background, their learning needs, or the system they've been let down by.

Why Thrive exists

Too many children fall through the gaps in education. They're not getting the support they need in class — whether because of special educational needs, difficult circumstances at home, missed learning, or simply that the system isn't built for the way they learn.

Thrive was founded to change that. We believe every child deserves access to qualified, patient, expert support — not just those whose families can navigate the system, but every child.

We work with families directly, and with schools and local authorities to reach the children who need us most — including those with EHCPs, looked after children and care leavers, and young people at risk of exclusion.

"We believe that education should be inclusive, supportive, and built around the learner — not the system. Thrive exists to close gaps, build confidence, and help children unlock their full potential, regardless of their background or learning needs."

A career built on getting it right for children

Daniel Croft MBE founded Thrive following 25 years working across children’s services in the UK and internationally.

Beginning in fostering in 2000, his career has included leadership roles across fostering, residential care, education, and family support, including CEO and Managing Director positions within national and international organisations.

In 2024, Daniel was awarded an MBE for services to fostering and family-based care.

Thrive was created to bring that experience back to what matters most: direct support for children and young people. The organisation focuses on specialist tutoring, mentoring, and support for young people with special educational needs, children in care, care leavers, and those who have become disconnected from education or traditional services.

At its core, Thrive is built around relationships, trust, flexibility, and the belief that every young person deserves support that genuinely fits their needs.

What guides everything we do

Child-Centred

Every decision starts with the child. We build provision around their individual needs, strengths and circumstances — not around what's convenient for us.

Genuinely Inclusive

We actively seek out the children who need support most — those with SEN, those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and those the mainstream system has struggled to reach.

High Standards

We hold ourselves to high standards in everything — the quality of our tutors, the rigour of our vetting, and the outcomes we work to deliver for every child.

Joined-Up

We work best when we're connected — with the family, the school, the SENCO, the social worker. Progress happens when everyone is working together around the child.

Outcomes-Focused

We are here to make a measurable difference. Progress is tracked, documented and shared. We don't coast — we adapt until we find what works for each child.

Safeguarding First

The safety and wellbeing of every child we work with is paramount. All tutors and mentors are DBS checked and right-to-work verified, and work within our safeguarding policies.

Joined-up support around every child

We place the child at the centre and build a trusted network of support around them — connecting family, tutor, school, and local authority and specialist professionals, all working together toward the same outcomes..
